The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital, after his car plunged down an embankment, this afternoon.
The man was driving along a highway in the Gympie region, when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and crash into trees.
The rescue chopper was called into action shortly after 1pm, where the pilot was able to land the aircraft on a stretch of highway, near the incident scene.
The man was extricated by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel, who were already at the scene from a separate incident, which had occurred earlier today.
The aeromedical team worked alongside Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the man for multiple injuries.
He was flown in a serious but stable condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
