Motorcyclist airlifted after multi-vehicle crash on highway

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital this morning, after she was involved in a multi-vehicle incident.

It’s believed a car collided with the back of her motorcycle, causing her to lose control and crash.

The rescue chopper was tasked to the scene at the Sunshine Coast at around 7am.

The pilot and Aircrew Officer (ACO) were able to land the helicopter on a stretch of highway that had been closed by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.

The LifeFlight aeromedical crew worked alongside Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the patient for multiple injuries and prepare her for transport.  The woman, aged in her 50s, was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment
