The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) crew has airlifted an injured man, after his arm became trapped in an auger, earlier today.
It’s believed he managed to free himself from the machinery, before Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics arrived.
The LifeFlight SGAS chopper was called to the scene, in the Goondiwindi region, around 10.15 this morning.
The aeromedical team worked with QAS paramedics to treat the man for injuries to both arms, before he was flown to a Western Downs airport, in a serious but stable condition.
The man, aged in his 30s, was then transferred to a Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) plane, to be flown to Brisbane.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
