LifeFlight SGAS airlifts injured horse rider

The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was involved in a horse riding incident in the Maranoa region, late this afternoon.

It’s believed the woman, aged in her 20s, had been mustering with others when she fell from the horse, fracturing her leg.

The rescue chopper was called to the private property shortly before 5:30pm (Friday 7th July).

The LifeFlight SGAS pilot landed at a dirt airstrip close to the scene.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic stabilised the patient before she was airlifted to Roma for hospital treatment.

Tasked by Queensland Health, the LifeFlight SGAS helicopter and crew performed this mission as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to providing community aeromedical coverage.
