LifeFlight airlifts man after hay bale accident

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today airlifted a man to hospital after a farming incident in the Toowoomba region.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked by Retrieval Services Queensland at 6:10pm to a private property in Goombungee and landed near to the scene.

It’s believed the man had been helping a tractor driver stack hay bales when one fell on him.

The critical care LifeFlight doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient for significant abdominal injuries.

The patient, aged in his 70s, was airlifted to the LifeFlight Toowoomba base before being road transported by QAS paramedics to Toowoomba Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition.
