LifeFlight airlifts driver after two-vehicle head-on collision

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted a man to hospital this morning after a head-on collision in the Southern Downs region.

Two vehicles collided, one a 4WD on the highway.

The LifeFlight crew landed the chopper on the road, close to the accident, which had been closed to traffic by Queensland Police Service (QPS).

The male driver aged in his 40s in the other vehicle was trapped for almost an hour. He was treated on scene for leg injuries by the LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic alongside local QAS paramedics. Queensland Fire Department also attended.

The driver was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
