Big splash for LifeFlight as Bryony triples her fundraising goal

Bryony Gray has tripled her fundraising goal for LifeFlight, after swimming 5km to raise funds for the aeromedical organisation that saved her husband last year.

Aaron Gray was severely injured in a motorcycle accident on the Old Bruce Highway in Federal and required a life-saving airlift to Brisbane.

Mrs Gray’s goal was to raise $1000 for LifeFlight but the generosity of the Sunshine Coast community blew that target out of the water to more than $3000.

This week she swam 100 laps at the Nambour Aquatic Centre and smashed her personal swimming best.

“I’m really chuffed and so glad I did it,” Mrs Gray said.

“It was a big personal challenge and something I wouldn’t have otherwise pushed myself to do.”

LifeFlight rescue crew officer Ben Regan was part of the aircrew who helped Mr Gray that day and attended the fundraising event.

“It was my first time meeting a patient after we’ve helped them,” he said, after cheering her on poolside.

“It was a wonderful experience to see how far Aaron has come in his recovery and to fill in some blanks for him from the day of his accident.”
