Toowoomba’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team has been winched down to an accident scene, to help a man, who was injured after the tractor he was driving rolled down an embankment.
It’s believed the man had been driving the tractor down a mountain, south-east of Toowoomba, when he lost control of the vehicle on a dirt road, causing it to roll approximately ten metres.
The rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, which was surrounded by bush, at 9.30am.
As there was no suitable place for the pilot to land the helicopter, the decision was made to lower the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic down to the patient.
While they were treating the man, who is aged in his 60s, a QAS four-wheel-drive was able to travel to the scene.
The patient was then transported in the ambulance to where the helicopter had been able to land, in a nearby clearing.
The injured man was loaded into the chopper and flown to Toowoomba Hospital, with chest and back injuries.
He travelled in a stable condition.
