The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a motocross rider out of a state forest, after he fell from his bike, north-west of Caboolture.
The rescue helicopter was called into action at 10am (Saturday 15th February), after friends, who were riding with the man, alerted emergency services.
It’s believed he had been riding through the forest, when he struck a low hanging branch and was knocked off his bike.
Due to the location of the accident, the rescue helicopter crew winched both the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Critical Care Flight Paramedic down to the scene, where they joined other QAS paramedics in treating the patient.
The rider, aged in his thirties, was winched on a stretcher into the aircraft, before he was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
He was transported in a stable condition, with lower leg injuries.
