The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown an injured driver to hospital, after his van crashed into the back of a truck, last night. (Thursday 30 July)
The impact left the man trapped in his damaged vehicle, until he was freed by emergency services.
The rescue helicopter was called to the scene around 10.40pm and landed on a closed stretch of highway, near the accident in the Sunshine Coast region.
The aeromedical crew worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics at the scene, to treat and stabilise the man.
The patient, aged in his 30s, was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
