Boy airlifted after motocross accident

The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a boy to hospital, after a motocross accident in the Somerset region.

The rescue chopper was sent to the scene, north west of Caboolture, just after midday (Sunday 23 February).

It’s believed the primary school-aged rider lost control of his bike on a jump and was flung over the handlebars, landing heavily.

Once at the scene, the aeromedical crew worked alongside the local Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the boy for lower limb injuries.

After being stabilised, he was airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
