RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts motocross rider to hospital

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man, after he was injured in a motocross accident, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The rescue chopper flew to the motocross park just after 10:30am today (Oct 17), where the pilot was able to land at the scene.

It’s believed the motocross rider, aged in his forties, had been attempting a jump, when he lost control and was flung over 10 metres, landing heavily on his side.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first on scene and treated the male rider, for chest and shoulder injuries.

Once the aeromedical team arrived, they worked with the paramedics to stabilise the patient for his flight to hospital.

He was flown in a stable condition to the  Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
