The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a motorbike rider to hospital, after he collided with a cow, while riding in a remote part of the Banana region.
The helicopter was tasked to the incident just after midday (Sunday 1st May).
The pilot was able to land the helicopter close to the crash scene.
It’s believed the rider, who is aged in his forties, had been travelling along a dirt road, when a cow came unexpectedly into his path.
The motorcycle rider was unable to avoid hitting the animal.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the man for multiple injuries, including head injuries and rib fractures.
The patient was loaded into the rescue chopper and airlifted to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition, for further treatment.
