LifeFlight airlifts race car driver to hospital

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew last night airlifted a race car driver to hospital after an accident.

The driver was racing at a speedway in the Fraser Coast region when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics treated the driver for significant burns on scene.

He was transported to a nearby airport where they were met by the LifeFlight helicopter, which had been tasked at 5.50pm.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic provided further treatment to the patient.

The man aged in his 50s was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
