LifeFlight airlifts man after Noosa trail bike crash

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew yesterday airlifted a man to hospital after a trail bike crash in the Noosa region.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked at 9:50am by Retrieval Services Queensland to the scene inland from Teewah Beach.

Due to the location of the crash and the thick canopy of the forest, the critical care LifeFlight doctor, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic and rescue crew officer (RCO) were winched down to the patient, who was treated for broken limbs and a head injury.

It’s believed the rider lost control of his bike and crashed into a tree. He had been riding with one other person who contacted emergency services.

The man, in his 50s, was winched into the helicopter and flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
