LifeFlight airlifts child after island camping burn

The Brisbane-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew today airlifted a child to hospital, after a Stradbroke Island campfire incident.

The LifeFlight helicopter was tasked to the island at 12.14pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and landed on the beach to drop the medical team, before moving to Point Lookout to wait for the patient.

The LifeFlight critical care doctor and flight nurse worked alongside local paramedics to treat the young girl, who had burns to her feet.

The QAS team then drove the patient to the helicopter, and she was airlifted to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
