The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew yesterday winched two hikers to safety off a mountain in Mount Barney National Park.
The helicopter was tasked at 4pm by Retrieval Services Queensland and located the hikers close to the summit.
The LifeFlight rescue crew officer was winched down to retrieve a female and a male patient both aged in their 20s.
It’s believed the female hiker could not climb back down the mountain after she suffered a medical episode.
The male patient was flown to the base of the mountain and was assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics.
The female patient was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.
