Flower powered philanthropy

Gail and Adrian Wockner have nurtured their love of gardening for more than 50 years and are digging deep to support LifeFlight. The Wockner’s have used their extensive knowledge of flora to cultivate a native plant haven.

Their garden has many different plant species growing, including grevilleas and Eremophilas.

The Toowoomba green thumbs have been raising money for LifeFlight since 2018, unearthing $129,000 in funds.

They open their beautiful garden to the public through the Toowoomba Exhibitions Garden initiative – a 10-day event held during Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers.

A small entry fee enables visitors to tour spectacular displays of hard work, with the owner’s donating proceeds to their charity of choice.

“We’ve seen what LifeFlight does for the community. It’s a great cause, and in the country, you never know when you’re going to need the service,” said Mr Wockner.

“I don’t know what we’d do without them. We enjoy gardening and to have other people in and enjoy it too is a plus for us.”

The Wockner’s generosity has helped make the Toowoomba LifeFlight base a home away from home for the crew, with some of their proceeds used to accommodate crews and provide essential equipment for the base.
