The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a man to safety, after he reportedly fell at least 8 metres from a cliff in Noosa, yesterday afternoon.
It’s believed the man, who is aged in his 40s, was making his way to the beach when he lost his footing, causing him to fall several metres.Â
The rescue chopper was tasked to assist, just before 3:30pm yesterday (Wednesday, 12th October).Â
Due to the rugged terrain at the scene, it was decided it was safest to winch the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic, along with a stretcher, down to the patient.Â
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel, Queensland Surf Life Saving Lifeguards and local QAS paramedics were also on scene, assisting the injured man.Â
He was treated for significant lower leg injuries, before being secured into the stretcher and hoisted up into the helicopter hovering above.Â
He was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.Â
