The Bundaberg RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a man to hospital, after he was injured in an aircraft crash this morning (Saturday 25th September).
It’s believed the pilot and sole occupant was attempting to land a microlight aircraft, at an airstrip on Fraser Island, when he lost control.
The aircraft subsequently crashed into the ground.
The man, aged in his 50s, managed to free himself from the wreckage.
The pilot of a second microlight aircraft, which was travelling behind, safely landed and rendered first aid.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were on the scene, when the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper arrived, around 9:30am.
The patient was treated for suspected spinal and upper body injuries, before he was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital, in a stable condition.
