Mt Isa’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a woman to hospital, after she was injured in a single vehicle rollover this afternoon.
The rescue helicopter was called to the scene, north of Cloncurry, just after 2pm.
It’s believed the woman was a passenger in a four wheel drive, when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to roll off a highway.
The male driver was able to free himself, but the female passenger was trapped.
A truck driver, who saw the crash and stopped to help, had access to a satellite phone and was able to call triple zero.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were all sent to the scene.
QAS paramedics were treating the woman, inside the rolled vehicle, when the aeromedical team arrived.
QFES firefighters eventually cut the patient, aged in her sixties, free.
She was stabilised, before being flown to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
