The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has attended two car crashes in the Western Downs region, this weekend.
Just after 3pm (Sun 17th), the rescue helicopter was tasked to the Moonie Highway following a single-vehicle rollover.
It’s believed the male driver of the car was trapped by his arm, under the vehicle, for more than an hour.
Both the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), and the Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES), along with the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team worked to stabilise and free the man.
Once the driver was released, the LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic worked alongside local QAS paramedics, to treat him for a fractured arm and possible spinal and internal injuries.
The patient, aged in his forties, was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
Last night, the Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted another patient from the Western Downs who had also been injured in a car accident.
The man, aged in his thirties, had suffered multiple injuries and was flown to Toowoomba Hospital for further treatment.
Since Friday evening LifeFlight Rescue helicopters have responded to seven motor vehicle incidents and airlifted eight patients who were injured in those crashes.
The crashes occurred in five regions – Toowoomba, South and North Burnett, Somerset and the Western Downs.
