The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has winched an injured paraglider, after he fell from about four metres in the air, onto sand, south of the Rainbow Beach township.
The rescue helicopter was called to the scene, just before 1pm.
Due to the accident happening on a steep slope of sand, the LifeFlight Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service Critical Care Flight Paramedic had to be winched down to the patient.
They assisted QAS paramedics, who had walked to the scene, in treating and stabilising the paraglider.
The patient and aeromedical crew were then winched into the helicopter.
The man, aged in his 30s, was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, with back and shoulder injuries.
