The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital after he was injured in a truck rollover in the Western Downs region today.

The rescue helicopter was tasked just before 11am and the pilot landed the aircraft in a paddock close to the incident. 

The man was found unconscious and trapped in the truck by a motorist driving past who then alerted the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS).

It is believed he lost control of the truck, and then veered off the road into trees.

The truck rolled once, landing upright and the man was pinned by the roof of the cab. 

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) crews freed the man from the wreckage.

Two RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctors and a QAS Flight Paramedic assisted in treating the patient, along with local QAS paramedics.

The man, aged in his 60s, suffered serious injuries, and was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
