Three rescue helicopters, including two RACQ LifeFlight Rescue choppers, have airlifted injured patients to hospital, after a serious crash, south of Toowoomba, this afternoon.
It’s believed a vehicle had been travelling along a rural road, just after 2pm, when the driver stopped at a stretch, which appeared to be flooded.
A vehicle, which was reportedly travelling in the opposite direction, then hit the stationary car, head-on.
The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was urgently redirected, from a hospital transfer, to the scene.
The Queensland Government Air (QGAir) helicopter, based in Archerfield, was then called in to assist.
A short time later, the Brisbane RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper was also tasked to attend.
All three aircraft were able to land on the road, which had been closed by Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) firefighters were also at the crash site, when the aeromedical teams arrived.
The Toowoomba RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted a seriously injured woman, to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The Brisbane RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper then airlifted a critically injured person, to Princess Alexandra Hospital.
A third patient was also flown to hospital, by the QGAir aircraft.
