A man, aged in his 70s, has been flown to hospital, after he was seriously injured in a paragliding incident, this afternoon.
The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was sent to the scene, north east of Gympie, just after 4:10pm.
It’s believed the man had been paragliding, over sand, when he reportedly fell around 10 metres.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were already treating the patient when the rescue chopper arrived.Â
An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic were winched down to the scene, separately.
The paraglider was stabilised, before being transported, by vehicle, to a nearby sports oval, where the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aircraft had been able to land.
The patient was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a serious but stable condition.
