The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has winched an injured fisherman to safety, after he fell on rocks, at a headland in the Gladstone region.
It’s believed the man, aged in his 60s, was walking down the rocks to go fishing, when he slipped.
The helicopter was called in around 12.40pm, as the area was too steep for rescuers to carry him to safety.
The pilot quickly located the scene and a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Flight Paramedic was winched down to the rocks.
The helicopter landed in a nearby carpark, while the paramedic treated the patient for a lower leg injury.
The fisherman was then hoisted up to the helicopter, accompanied by the paramedic, before being flown to Bundaberg Hospital.
He travelled in a stable condition.
