Local RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew airlift third injured motorbike rider in 24 hours

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted an injured man to hospital, after he crashed his motorbike, earlier today.

It’s believed the man was out riding with friends, along a road in the Somerset region, when he clipped a guardrail and crashed his motorbike.

The rescue chopper was sent to the scene around 11:30am, where the pilot was able to land the aircraft nearby.

The aeromedical team worked alongside paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to stabilise the man, aged in his eighties.

He’d suffered lower limb injuries an was flown in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

It’s the third motorbike crash the Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has attended in 24 hours.

Yesterday (August 28th), the aeromedical crew was sent to Mary Valley, to airlift a man who’d crashed his dirt bike in a state forest.

He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

Later that evening, the crew was then tasked to another motorbike accident, in the Fraser Coast region.

A man, aged in his twenties, had suffered a leg injury after crashing his motorbike, south of Maryborough.

He was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
