The Roma-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aermodedical Service (SGAS) helicopter has flown a seriously injured man to hospital, after a motorbike crash this morning.
The rescue chopper was sent to the scene, north east of Charleville, around 11:45am.
It’s believed the man had been riding his motorcycle along a gravel road, when a cow ran into his path.
He was reportedly thrown from the motorbike, as a result of the collision.
People who had been travelling in the same group as the man initially provided assistance, before emergency services arrived
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers were on the scene, when the LifeFlight SGAS chopper landed.
The patient, aged in his 50s, was treated for serious abdominal injuries, before being flown to Toowoomba Hospital, in a serious but stable condition.
The rescue helicopter travelled more than 1300 kilometres, to complete the mission.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
