The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter has airlifted a man, after he was injured in a motor vehicle accident this afternoon.
The rescue chopper was called to a stretch of highway, east of Toowoomba, just before 12:30pm.
It’s believed the injured man had been driving a truck, when it left the roadway and rolled several times, down an embankment.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics, Queensland Police Service (QPS) officers and Queensland Fire and Emergency (QFES) personnel were all on the scene, when the aeromedical team arrived.
The patient, aged in his 60s, was reportedly trapped, in the cabin of the vehicle, for some time.
He was eventually freed and treated for suspected upper body and spinal injuries, before being flown to Toowoomba Hospital, in a stable condition.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
