The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a teenager to hospital after a swimming incident at North Stradbroke Island.
The rescue chopper was sent to the Island at 11:30am (Sunday 20th September), where the pilot was able to land at an oval next to the beach.
It’s believed the teenager had been swimming in the surf and got caught in a rip. Bystanders noticed the swimmer struggling, and brought him to shore.
The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) arrived on scene, and treated the man.
The QAS, then transported him to the rescue helicopter, where the aeromedical crew stabilised him for his flight.
He was airlifted to the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue base in Brisbane, then road transported by QAS to the Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
