The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a motorcycle accident this afternoon (Sunday 2nd May).
The rescue chopper was called to a beach, north east of Gympie, just after 4:15pm.
It’s believed the patient, in his 40s, had been travelling with a group of other motorcycle riders along the beach, when his bike hit some wet sand, causing him to lose control and crash.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics were first on scene and treated the rider for chest and back injuries.
The QAS paramedics then arranged to rendezvous with the rescue chopper at a nearby oval.
The patient was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
