A primary-school aged boy has been airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, after he was critically injured in a car crash, earlier today.
It’s believed he was a passenger in a car, travelling along a highway south west of Toowoomba, when it collided with a truck.
The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter was called into action shortly before 8am.
The pilot was able land the aircraft on the road, close to the crash scene.
The aeromedical crew worked alongside paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to treat the boy for multiple injuries.
He was flown in a critical condition to hospital.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
