Injured teenager airlifted after sand tobogganing incident

The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a teenage boy to hospital after he injured his head and neck in a sand tobogganing incident.

He was reportedly sliding down a sand dune on a Moreton Bay island with two other people, when they fell off their toboggan.

The rescue chopper was called to the incident just after 4:30 this afternoon.

The teenager, who was holidaying on the island, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition, under the care of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue medical team.

The Queensland Government Air (QGAir) helicopter was also tasked and is believed to have airlifted the other two patients.
