Toowoomba’s LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter crew has winched an injured man to safety, after he fell at a popular mountain in the Scenic Rim.
The man, who is aged in his 60s, was reportedly hiking in a group, when he fell, dislocating his shoulder.
The rescue chopper was called to the scene just after midday (Saturday, 6th November).
Due to the difficult terrain, the LifeFlight SGAS Critical Care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic were winched down to treat the patient.
The man was hoisted into the helicopter before being flown to Toowoomba Airport.
The hiker was then transported by QAS to hospital in a stable condition.
The LifeFlight SGAS helicopter performed the mission, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the south west region and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
