Glider pilot airlifted to hospital after crash landing

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a glider pilot to hospital, after he crash landed, just metres from a farm house, in the Gympie region.

The rescue chopper was tasked just before 1pm and landed in a paddock, near the scene.

The aeromedical crew worked with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics to treat the man for minor injuries, including possible spinal injuries.

The team quickly loaded him into the helicopter and departed the scene, ahead of incoming storms.

The glider pilot was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
