The Brisbane-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted a man to hospital, after he was injured in a head-on crash, in the Fraser Coast region.

The chopper was one of two rescue aircraft which responded to the collision, with a QGAir (Queensland Government Air) helicopter also tasked to airlift another patient.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew was called in, just after 8.30pm last night. (Thursday 16 July)

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics transported the patient to the helicopter, which landed in a paddock near the accident scene.

The male patient, aged in his 60s, was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition.
