The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has airlifted a man, after the tractor he was riding rolled over, trapping him underneath.

The rescue chopper was called to a private property in the Gympie region, around 2.40pm.

It’s believed Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel freed the man from under the tractor and began initial treatment, while the helicopter was on its way.

The patient was transported by QAS to the helicopter, when it landed in a nearby field.

The man, aged in his 70s, was then flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and a QAS Flight Paramedic.

He was transported in a stable condition, with suspected pelvic injuries.
