Aeromedical crew performs ‘hover exit’ to treat injured surfer

The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew has performed a ‘hover exit’ onto rocks, to treat an injured surfer.

The rescue helicopter was called to the scene, in the Noosa region, just after 5pm (Monday 27 January).

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Critical Care Flight Paramedic had to carefully exit the aircraft, while it hovered just a small distance off the rocks.

They treated the man on the rocks, before he was transported by road to a nearby park, from where he was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

He was in a stable condition.
