RACQ LifeFlight Rescue airlifts injured plane crash victims

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has airlifted two men to hospital, after they were injured in a light plane crash, earlier today.

The rescue chopper was tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to respond to the crash, off the coast of Fraser Island, around 1:30pm.

The men, aged in their sixties and twenties, were able to swim to shore, where they were assessed by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.

The aeromedical crew then flew the pair to Hervey Bay Hospital.
