Critically injured man airlifted after cow attack

The Sunshine Coast RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a man to hospital, after he was attacked by a cow this morning.

The rescue chopper was called to the Gympie region, at 8am.

It’s believed the patient, aged in his 60s, had been working with cattle, when a heifer attacked him.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics initially treated the man for critical upper body injuries, before the aeromedical team arrived.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot was able to land the aircraft on the scene.

The patient was prepared for flight, before being airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a critical but stable condition.

He travelled under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and QAS Flight Paramedic.
