The Roma Saleyards hosted a charity cattle day that saw $25,000 raised for LifeFlight Australia.
Maranoa Regional Council generously pledged to donate 50 percent of the live weight and open auction selling fees received for each head of cattle, in recognition of the importance of LifeFlight and the vital work they do providing aeromedical care.
Additional funds are still coming in from auction sales.Â
An extra $860 was raised by the community from raffle tickets and other fundraising activities.
“We’re so grateful to the community and Maranoa Regional Council for their ongoing support,” said LifeFlight South West Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Chair Kate Scott.
“It’s events like these that really show how strong the connection is between LifeFlight and the regional and rural communities we help. There are so many people to thank who made this auction so successful. People are so generous with their time and money.”
The funds raised will help support LifeFlight’s community work in the future.
Roma’s LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter came to the aid of 74 people last financial year. The helicopter undertakes community missions at no charge to patients, as part of the SGAS partners’ commitment to assisting in providing the Maranoa and beyond, with community aeromedical coverage, by donating 150 flying hours each year.
