Toowoomba’s RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter has flown a critically injured man to hospital, after he was reportedly crushed by a grain silo, which collapsed this morning.
The rescue chopper was called to a private property, in the Goondiwindi region, just after 8:30am.
It’s believed the man, aged in his forties, had been working near the structure, when it unexpectedly collapsed, trapping him beneath.
A workmate was able to raise the alarm.
Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) personnel were at the scene, when the aeromedical team arrived.
Due to the location of the accident, a QAS vehicle transported the patient from where he had been injured, to the rescue chopper.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot had been able to land the aircraft a short distance away.
He was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a critical condition, under the care of an RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and a QAS Flight Paramedic.
