Help us raise $1 million to support our critical care doctors in saving more lives.
Your support will make ICU level care accessible to every Queenslander, like Eli and Jacqui.
LifeFlight critical care doctors are a vital part of our ability to bring ICU level care directly to patients in need across our vast state. Receiving the best possible care from one of our doctors at the scene and in transit can drastically change the outcome and recovery for our patients. Right now, our ability to provide ICU level care statewide is currently at risk, and we need to raise $1 million to ensure our critical care doctors are always on standby, ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
Medical emergencies can happen anywhere, any time. And thanks to your support, LifeFlight brings the doctor directly to our patients – right across our big state, all the way from Eli's backyard to Jacqui's remote family farm and everywhere in between.
Will you please help us reach the $1 million that's desperately needed to support our doctors in delivering urgent, ICU level care to Queenslanders when it matters most?

"You gave me the greatest gift of all, allowing me to continue my wonderful life,
loving my family." - Jacqui
Jacqui was out on a quadbike on her family’s remote cattle property in the Western Downs when it suddenly rolled over. She lay on the ground with life-threatening injuries, including a badly ruptured spleen and four fractured ribs. Over three hours from the nearest hospital, she needed urgent care.
The LifeFlight helicopter, with Dr Chris Jarvis and flight paramedic Brad Solomon soon arrived. Dr Jarvis scanned her stomach and confirmed his worst suspicions – she was bleeding internally.
He started a blood transfusion before taking off for Toowoomba Hospital. During the flight, Dr Jarvis and Brad Solomon never stopped working. It was a busy flight, but they made a point to take turns holding Jacqui’s hand to reassure her. Jacqui was losing blood so rapidly that Dr Jarvis knew she needed more blood, so mid-flight he organised a stop at Dalby Hospital helipad.
The helicopter touched down but the rotor didn't stop, giving them moments to collect the bags of blood before taking off again.
By the time the helicopter reached Toowoomba Hospital, Jacqui had received six units of blood and a full surgical team was waiting for her on the helipad. Jacqui has since recovered and is grateful for the LifeFlight crew that saved her life that day. It’s no exaggeration to say that without them she would not be alive today.
''Without LifeFlight our family would be missing a piece.''
- Sarah-Jayne, Eli's mum
One Saturday morning, Eli climbed his favourite tree on his family’s farm near Bundaberg to relax with some music and clear his head. He was six metres up when the branch he was sitting on suddenly snapped and he fell to the ground. His mum Sarah-Jayne called Triple Zero (000) and started panicking – she thought her boy was dead.
LifeFlight critical care doctor Richard Parker and QAS flight paramedic Kevin Charteris arrived on the scene, where Dr Parker immediately started stabilising Eli which required inducing a coma and putting a tube down his throat so they could monitor his breathing and fly him to a paediatric trauma surgeon.
Dr Parker was the only person on the scene who could have performed the ICU level care needed to give Eli the greatest chance of survival that day.
While the outcome for a patient like Eli depends on many factors, it’s the actions of our doctors on the ground and during the flight that can determine whether a patient is going to make it. Watch Eli's full story to learn how he is doing today.
Target: $1 million
We know that $1 million is a significant amount. To raise it, we'll need to pull together - just as Queenslanders have always done. Everyone in our state deserves 24/7 access to the ICU-level pre-hospital care our doctors provide, but without this funding, our ability to do so is at risk.
Increased rostering
With a critical care doctor onboard more flights, we can ensure the best outcome for more patients in need of ICU-level care.
Training
Our medical teams undergo constant training to make sure they are up-to-date with the latest life-saving medical procedures.
Tools and resources
Providing ICU-level care 24/7 means we'll need more state-of-the-art equipment at the ready, in top condition, at all times.
