Last year the Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter performed 243 lifesaving missions coming in at a cost of $3,037,500.
From raffle prizes to the charity auction, the AustSafe Super ‘Unifying Agriculture’ Charity Race Day will be a hive of activity on and off the track.
AustSafe Super’s Regional Manager – Central QLD, Tony O’Mara, said the generosity of Bundaberg’s business community is testament to the support given to local charities right throughout rural and regional Australia.
“In order to keep a service like LifeFlight operational, rural communities have to band together for the collective good and the charity race day really exemplifies that spirit. AustSafe Super is really proud to be associated with such an invaluable service,” he said.
Last year the event raised almost $10,000 which went towards keeping the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue community helicopters and Royal Flying Doctors Service in the air.
Community Fundraising Manager, Jodi Durkin, said as demand for the aeromedical service continues to grow it’s more important now than ever to dig deep.
“The life-saving medical care provided by LifeFlight is vital to all Queenslanders, but especially to those people living in rural and remote areas,” Jodi said.
The day is part of the Battle of the Bush Series; a Racing Queensland initiative allowing 16 horses from eight country regions to qualify for a $100,000 final in Brisbane (Doomben) on June 23rd.
2017 was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,344 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
