Woman airlifted after possible snake bite

This is the sixth suspected snake bite RACQ CareFlight Rescue has responded to in just seven weeks.

The 60-year-old had been walking through long grass when she felt something hit her leg.

Emergency services were contacted after the woman began experiencing a stinging sensation in the affected area.

The Gold Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked on a hospital transfer to airlift the woman shortly after 11am.

The crew flew to Texas Hospital to retrieve the patient.

She was transferred to Toowoomba Base Hospital to undergo further medical assessment and treatment.

She travelled in a stable condition.

There are no further details on the breed of snake.
