Thousands of people have trekked the new tarmac at the Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport Open Day, donating to RACQ CareFlight Rescue in the process.
“We are overwhelmed by the support we receive from the community,” Fundraising Manager Sarah Delahunty said.
“And today has been no different.
“We are so grateful to everyone who donated a gold coin, or more, as they entered, and to Wellcamp and the Wagner Family for having RACQ CareFlight Rescue as the charity of the day.”
The Toowoomba crew flew in for the event and spent the morning chatting to anyone curious about the helicopter or the lifesaving work RACQ CareFlight Rescue does.
“It was great to catch up with past patients and to thank the community for their support in person,” RACQ CareFlight Rescue Pilot Andrew Riches said.
The crew was at the Welllcamp event until noon, when it was tasked on a mission to Tara to airlift a patient requiring further treatment in Toowoomba.
The money raised at today’s event will go towards upkeep of the Toowoomba helicopter.
