The women, aged in their 20s, had been visiting the area with a tour group when they were struck by a large wave at the natural inlet.
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue was tasked to the area just after 4.30 pm.
Both patients were airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital with lower limb injuries.
The 2017-2018 financial year was a record year for LifeFlight for lifesaving missions with its aeromedical crews, community helicopters and Air Ambulance jets performing a record 5,452 missions throughout Queensland and around the world.
