Shortly before midday, the Sunshine Coast RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was tasked to fly to the township of Imbil, south of Gympie, to help treat and transport an 18-month-old child following an accident.
It is believed the young patient had fallen from on top of a toy box at home and suffered head injuries as a result.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics ferried the child to the Imbil Showgrounds, where they were met by CareFlight’s Maroochydore-based helicopter.
The child was flown from to Nambour General Hospital in a stable condition, along with his father.
Earlier in the day, the Toowoomba-based rescue helicopter was urgently required at a remote rural property near Kogan, north-west of Dalby, to attend to a man in his mid-60s suffering from a medical condition.
The CareFlight crew met emergency services personnel at the scene after landing in a neighbouring paddock.
The patient was assessed at the scene, before being transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
