Team effort to help man injured on Fraser Island

The man, aged in his thirties, was travelling with friends along an island beach in a 4WD ute around 11am this morning, when the vehicle hit a wash-out in the sand.

He was injured when his head hit the roof of the cab.

He was treated on-scene by Fraser Island QAS paramedics before several of his friends worked together to carry him on a stretcher to the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter, which was waiting at the island clearing that is used as a landing pad.

The injured man was assessed by RACQ LifeFlight Rescue’s QAS paramedic and was in a stable condition when he was airlifted to the Hervey Bay Hospital.
